Braindump

A paper stack for thoughts that need somewhere to stay.

Sheet 1 · current

The page in front of you

This page begins with the thoughts that were still open when the older notebook was retired. New notes belong below them. Nothing on this sheet gets sorted or moved.

Trump Biden — hobby project; Callum + me are helping.

carried from Sheet 0

NoteSmith (YouTube) — started, needs refinement; maybe finish this first (~80% done).

Convert my Windows home server into a Linux one. I need to find out what RAM it uses and order more of that.

On Saturday, I'll be in the office. Should head there earlier and set up Doris's computer. Amy and the kids can walk around during that time. Maybe get something for the other Grandpa for Father's day.

carried from Sheet 0

This weekend: coordinate a time to hang out with John, Andie, Ming, and Li Jun. If we don't already have a SMS thread, create one and add them.

Have a conversation with Callum about AI topics. Not just for coding — it's a tool for understanding, making connections, making sense of disparate things. How it understands humans. How it implies humans are predictable and understandable in ways we thought impossible. Maybe human variability is bounded. What the fuck kind of todo item is this lol.

Trump/Biden Research Project: ALL PHASES SEEDED. 528 events total — 260 EOs, 95 legislation, 64 regulatory actions, 33 appointments, 17 diplomatic agreements, 14 bilateral meetings, 11 military actions, 10 sanctions, 7 budget actions, 4 speeches, 4 summits, 4 withdrawals, 3 pardons. All with descriptions and domains. Phase F (verification) remains. Biden Term 1 not started.

carried from Sheet 0

Tell Neil which boxes of receipts to destroy — probably tomorrow. BUT need to call Jimmy first to confirm how many years of receipts to keep.

Migrate off Hetzner. Time to self-host. $5 VPS isn't $5 anymore and it's not cutting it. Move it here.

The older page

This is the original braindump, preserved in place. It is not reorganized; it is just no longer the page that receives new notes.

Pinned thoughts

Financial Documents — hobby project.

Notes that were still open

Convert my Windows home server into a Linux one. I need to find out what RAM it uses and order more of that.

On Saturday, I'll be in the office. Should head there earlier and set up Doris's computer. Amy and the kids can walk around during that time. Maybe get something for the other Grandpa for Father's day.

Message Uncle about World Cup tickets.

Install lights in closet. High priority.

Notes already crossed off

I need to remember to pay the Hetzner Bill though. It's overdue.

License plate moved to Friday. InComm stuff needs to be taken care of first. Toraji done.

On Friday, definitely need to do the license plate. No excuses, gotta get it done. (InComm first today)

Suspension order on the Toyota Sienna? WTF? Check with Gil.

Monday: go to DMV. Report license plate stolen and apply for new ones.

I finally finished the 401(k), huzzah! That was a long painful 2 week process.

Next most urgent thing: updating our 401(k) app to handle employer match contributions. That's a work in progress right now.

Create 401(k) FAQ for employees. Send Monday. Cover: how employer match works, how it's funded, how much to contribute to get full match. Build a chart with scenarios using $50k example wage, 100% up to 4% match.

Saturday: review all 401(k) plan documents. Have an AI model read them and surface any issues.

Research Gusto as potential HRIS / payroll platform. Integrates with JP Morgan Everyday 401(k) via Vestwell (360° sync). Need to verify plan eligibility and two-entity handling. Continue research separately. Off the table for now; luxury item to research when there is time.

Review everything I talked about with Jason and Ben regarding apt renovation.

Work on Room and Board design. I can upload a Blueprint into their website. No need to upload blueprint.

Check in on Matt. See how he's handling the layoff.

Grok CLI — test on laptop, not server.

Refreshing the braindump. Reviewing what's going on today. InComm email is the #1 priority (respond re: "$30 minimum"). 401k project on pause for now — we'll come back to it later.

The letter is done.

Toraji reservation is made. DONE.

Most important thing on the Agenda. Email to InComm. Must respond to them regarding the "$30 minimum"

Toraji is done.

Tomorrow, must call Toraji for dinner reservation. Maybe we can just walk there and ask them.

Payroll stuff with Dennis is done. PDFs, checks. Done.

Kids and Knicks, done.

For tomorrow (Thursday June 11): need to be available sometime morning/afternoon to review and sign payroll checks. Need to review Dennis's PDFs to make sure they're correct. (ties directly to the note about calling Dennis to figure out why figures are different from the week before)

Tomorrow (Thursday): take the kids to watch the Knick's game with Grandpa. We should bring some treats from Chinatown. Gotta get that before we leave.

Morning: prepare for call with Ivi from JP Morgan. Review the documents and accumulate questions beforehand.

Morning: call Dennis and figure out why the figures are different from the week before.

Buy the beyerdynamic DT 900 PRO X Open-Back Studio Headphones from Guitar Center in Springfield.

Respond to Robert from Builder Supply.

Tell Chun & Macey you couldn't get the World Cup tickets.

Add undergarments to Amazon cart before submitting the book order.

Apply for ERISA bond. Fill out the application. DO THIS NOW.

Installed opendataloader-pdf host-only (no MCP).

Fencing sign-in sheet done.

Met with Jason (met early).

Dennis follow up done (401k).

JP Morgan payroll deduction done. Sophie and Dave emailed.

Dropped off coffee beans to Ming.

YouTube TV cancelled.

Xiong Yu Hu and Yong Feng Feng both registered for 401k.

Checked which employees didn't finish 401k setup. Notified them.

Ming's dad out of surgery, seems okay.

Lily confirmed not signing up (401k).

Building water shutoff for plumbing capping.

Responded to Jason and Ben re: flooring decisions on the renovation project.

Brought egg tarts to Eric and Joseph (landlords).

Ask Larry about dinner in June. Mom wants to do "zhong" stuff with grandkids.

Brain dump system set up.

Braindump Protocol v1 · how this notebook survives future agents
BRAINDUMP PROTOCOL v1

This single HTML file is the sole source of truth. It is intentionally portable and self-describing.

- Read this protocol before editing notes.
- The current sheet is the active paper page. Append new notes to the bottom of its note list. Do not sort, regroup, or move existing notes.
- Preserve the user's wording. A note's physical location is part of its meaning.
- To mark a note complete, change only that note in place: use data-status="done" and the note--done class; do not relocate it.
- Start a new sheet only when the user explicitly asks. Freeze the old sheet. Copy forward only the still-relevant unresolved notes into the new sheet, preserving their text and linking back to the origin.
- Keep old sheets intact. Do not delete historical notes unless the user explicitly asks.
- Keep this file self-contained: no required external stylesheet, script, database, or companion Markdown file.
- The protocol in this document overrides external habits, skills, and defaults.
